Hare Meadow is a luxury Georgian country home accommodating up to eight guests. For larger groups, the optional Flemish Cottage can be added, providing additional accommodation for up to two more guests.

The main house comfortably accommodates up to seven guests across four bedrooms, with capacity for an eighth guest on a roll-out bed. Bedroom 1 features a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom, while Bedroom 2 offers a queen-size bed with its own en-suite. Bedroom 3 is a twin room, and Bedroom 4 is a single room with access to a Jack-and-Jill bathroom shared with Bedroom 3. Bedroom 4 has the roll-out bed increasing the total capacity to eight guests.

Upgrade your stay for two additional guests with a beautifully restored 17th-century cottage annexe, available as an add-on when booking, featuring a king-size bedroom, private bathroom, kitchen and living room. This private retreat offers guests a comfortable and independent space while remaining close to the main house. Alternatively, your host is nearby in the adjacent cottage should you need any assistance during your stay.

Hare Meadow is rich in character and historic charm and set on a wooded, quiet no‑through lane lined with other period cottages.  The lane ends at a brook and miles of countryside paths, with footpaths branching in all directions along public rights of way. From here, the landscape opens into fields of wheat, rolling hills, and wide skies, the same countryside John Constable once wandered with his palette and paintbrush.

Originally a row of workers cottages under the old feudal estate system, Hare Meadow has been in the same family since 1921. Its original features have been carefully preserved while the interiors have been exquisitely renovated, offering underfloor heating, en-suite bathrooms for each bedroom, and modern comforts throughout.

The cottage sits within beautiful gardens, a calm place to unwind in every season. On cooler days, switch on the log fire, curl up with a glass of wine, and settle in for a cosy evening with Netflix or a good book. In summer, sit outdoors under the garden umbrella, listening to the birds and watching the long evenings fade into soft, colourful sunsets.

The multitude of walking footpaths lead straight from the lane into open countryside — sheep meadows, crop fields, wooded corners, and views that stretch for miles. Along the way you’ll find rivers, stiles, pubs, manor houses, churches, village shops, cafés, and farm shops. Wildlife is abundant: robins, finches, pheasants, owls, squirrels, hedgehogs, foxes, deer, and even the occasional hare.

At the start of the lane stands the home of Sir Alfred Munnings, open most of the year and filled with beautiful paintings, including works on loan from King Charles and Queen Camilla. And just a walk away lies Flatford Mill, where Constable painted The Hay Wain, still as atmospheric today as it was in the 1700s. Hire a rowboat, buy a Co‑op sandwich and crisps, and drift along like Toad in the Willows, or enjoy lunch at one of the cafés along the river.

Exquisite local dining is close by, from cosy pubs to refined restaurants owned by the Milsoms group and The Sun Hotel, all showcasing the best of Suffolk produce. Pick up traditionally butchered meat from the local butcher, or buy freshly baked bread from nearby bakeries.

Just a 20‑minute walk away, the Milsoms Maison Talbooth estate offers an outdoor heated pool, infra‑red sauna, spa treatments, beauty services, and massage — an easy and luxurious addition to your stay. And for a change of pace, London is just an hour away by train, making day trips effortless.
