Located in a narrow winding no thru country lane, the house has magnificent views over wheat fields, country houses and pastures green. A network of public footpaths surround the house; The Essex Way passes right out front, other public rights of way are joined from the adjacent field and at the end of the lane.
At the start of the lane is the Munnings Art Museum, famously known as the home and art studio of the late Sir Alfred Munnings and his wife Lady Violet Munnings. This museum and gallery is open to the public and has a lovely cafe, The Garden Café in the grounds.
Dedham is Constable Country, home of one of England’s most loved artists, John Constable. The scenery in and around Dedham featured in many of his paintings, including his famous painting, The Hay Wain, of Willy Lott’s cottage and Flatford Mill, just over a mile downstream from Dedham. The walk to Flatford Mill along the River Stour from Dedham village is obligatory and cathartic. Or hire a row boat instead and row your way to Flatford from The Kitchen @Dedham (formerly Dedham Boathouse).
Located in East Anglia, this area is the warmest and driest in Britain. Boasting spectacular British summers, the local beer gardens and banks of the River Stour are buzzing with activity. Abundant with flowers, green pastures, fields full of red poppies or vegetable crops, wheat or freshly ploughed fields, you couldn’t wish for a more enchanting environment.
